Chris Atwater has served as president of Michigan Commercial Space Advisors (formerly known as Waters Tenant Representation) since 2008, and in January of 2012 he took over as Owner.  Between 1996 and 2007 he was primarily involved in asset management, property management and tenant representation, first as Asset Manager at Oxford Partners, and then as both Asset Manager and President of Waters Corporation.

Prior to 1996, Chris spent fifteen years appraising commercial real estate in the Midwest and Southeast. He was an associate and then partner in the Georgia based commercial real estate appraisal firm of Schultz, Carr, Bissette, Atwater and Associates from July 1983 to August 1991.  In this position, in addition to ongoing appraisal assignments, business development, and management duties, he was involved extensively in hiring/training commercial associates, and spearheaded the development of an in-house computer database program.  Chris Atwater served as Chairman of the Board of ITRA Global from January 2015 to January 2017.

In his off time Chris enjoys sailing, kayaking, restoring vintage Volkswagens, and is a volunteer preemie baby rocker in the local NICU.

  • Grand Rapids is located in the U.S. state of Michigan on the Grand River about 40 miles east of Lake Michigan. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 188,040.  In 2010, the Grand Rapids metropolitan area had a population of 774,160 and a combined statistical area, Grand Rapids-Muskegon-Holland, population of 1,321,557. Grand Rapids is the second largest city in Michigan, after Detroit.
  • Grand Rapids is home to five of the world's leading office furniture companies and is nicknamed the "Furniture City". The city and surrounding communities are economically diverse, and contribute heavily to the health care, information technology, automotive, aviation, and consumer goods manufacturing industries, among others.
  • Grand Rapids was the hometown of Gerald Ford, the 38th President of the United States. He, along with his wife, former First Lady Betty Ford, is buried on the grounds of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids. Significant buildings in the downtown area include the DeVos Place Convention Center, Van Andel Arena, Amway Grand Plaza and JW Marriott Hotels,  Van Andel Institute, and Spectrum Health Hospital.
