Following are a few interesting facts about Northern New Jersey and its commercial real estate market…

  • Northern New Jersey is a vast suburban marketplace, with the majority of the population within a zone some 60 miles long and 40 miles wide. The following counties are generally considered to be part of Northern New Jersey:  Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, and Union County.
  • While New Jersey is the most densely populated state in the U.S., it is also known as “The Garden State” based on all the farms that produce items for consumption in the New York Metro area.  It is also the second wealthiest state. New Jersey consistently ranks as having one of the highest median incomes of any state in the U.S.
  • New Jersey lies entirely within the sprawling metropolitan area of New York City and Philadelphia.  Thus, there is a strong service economy in New Jersey, serving residents who work in these neighboring cities.  Some of these industries include financial services, telecommunications, pharmaceutical and Bio-Tech.
  • Newark Liberty International Airport is ranked seventh among the nation’s busiest airports and among the top 20 busiest airports in the world.
  • New Jersey’s greatest natural resource is its location, which has made the state a crossroads of commerce.  Other commercial advantages include its extensive transportation system, which puts one quarter of all U.S. consumers within overnight delivery range.
