ProMexico Joins Economic Development Panel for ITRA Global "Doing Business in the Americas" Symposium in London

May 11, 2012

ITRA Global, one of the largest real estate organizations devoted to the representation of corporate tenants and occupiers of commercial real estate worldwide, has announced that ProMéxico will join the Economic Development Panel at the ITRA Global 2012 Corporate Real Estate Symposium on September 12, 2012 at the Park Plaza Victoria London, 239 Vauxhall Bridge Road, in London, England.

Debra Stracke Anderson, Chairman Emeritus of ITRA Global and Chairman of the Symposium Committee, says the event will be a tremendous resource for company executives who must navigate a challenging global marketplace significantly affected by recent economic crises.

“ProMéxico is an example of the results of that change,” she explains, “because it was only recently established as the agency in charge of attracting foreign direct investment. Mexico represents a growing and increasingly important market in Latin America for European companies looking to expand their global capabilities.”

His Excellency José Neif Jury Fabre, Trade Commissioner of Mexico and head of the ProMéxico office in London, says the Symposium provides his economic development organization with a unique opportunity to interact with executives from around the globe who influence relocation and expansion decisions.

“ProMéxico has been recognized by UNCTAD as one of the best investment promotion agencies (IPA) in the world. We have several programs to help companies establish themselves in our country, independently of the natural advantages that our country offers already,” José Neif explains. ProMéxico is the Mexican Government institution in charge of strengthening Mexico’s participation in the international economy. With this objective in mind, the institution supports the export activity of companies established in the country and coordinates actions to attract foreign direct investment to national territory, sharing its locational benefits for business, including transportation capabilities - with easy seaport access through the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea to the Atlantic Ocean.

Divided into two sessions, “Doing Business in the Americas” is a premier all-day event featuring top corporate executives and economic development officials from around the world. One session will include economic development executives from government agencies in the Americas, who will address issues affecting companies moving into their regions — ranging from labor availability and costs, to transportation capabilities and taxation, along with other facility and location factors. The other panel, comprised of top global corporate executives, will help European companies understand how to increase their competitive advantage and profits with corporate real estate and obtain a better understanding of facility availability, build-to-suit and leasing vs. ownership options in the Americas today.
